Project highlights

We use this page to highlight examples of the work we’ve done. If you want to hear more about what we’re up to, get in touch at: hello@consequential.org.uk

  • We’re working with the Knowledge Transfer Network and DCMS to design and deliver a pilot Academy for earlier stage Safety Tech companies who are about to scale.

  • We’ve joined the Digital Catapult Machine Intelligence Garage as an AI Ethics Advisor, helping their cohorts to bring the theory of responsible AI into practice.

  • We worked with the Open Data Institute (ODI) to research the impact of data ethics tools and what could come next.

Safety Tech Academy

A new sector is emerging which focuses on protecting users and communities in online spaces and is looking to support the creation of a safer and better internet for everyone.

Through the Safety Tech Innovation Network, Consequential and Considered Capital are partnering to run a pilot Safety Tech Academy with a targeted cohort of earlier stage businesses to test ways to support them in creating good products, building sustainable businesses, and growing the sector and its impact.

Digital Catapult’s AI Ethics Advisory Committee

This advisory group works closely with startups through Digital Catapult’s Machine Intelligence Garage programme - hosting direct consultations, office hours, and workshops with startups as they navigate all the possibilities of their business idea. We also delivered a workshop on Applied Ethics: From Principle to Practice, which we are working with the MI Garage team to turn into a webinar.

Research on the next generation of data ethics tools

Over the past few years, organisations have been developing principles, frameworks and tools to help make technology and data practices more responsible and ethical.

This involved exploring the current challenges and opportunities in this area to support the vision of a world where data works for everyone.
